How Clean is your House Recipes... Kim & Aggie

03:19 Nov 01 2013
Times Read: 427

I am a fan of "How Clean is Your House?", and I have noticed that it is very hard to find their cleaning recipes in one place. I have been laid off for a little over a year now and I find I have a little spare time to watch some of these episodes online. On this blog I will post the various recipes off the episodes you can find online. I have just started this project so I do not have much, please bear with me as I post more information.

These are Kim and Aggie's recipes I just posted them here for easier access.

As Kim and Aggie always say please wear rubber gloves anytime you will be cleaning.

Air Freshener

Add 20 drops of your favorite essential oil to one pint of water and mix well. Store in a cool dry place and DO NOT spray glass directly this is designed for carpets, sofas, draped etc.

To scent a scent a room: add a couple of drops of your favorite essential oil to a clean cotton cloth and rub all over the light bulb, the GLASS only, NOT the base. As the light bulb gets hotter the more it will distribute the aroma around the room.

Cutlery

Dried on food: in a plastic dish that is big enough for your cutlery to fit add enough warm water to cover the cutlery, one squirt of dish detergent and a squirt of gel bleach mix with a brush. Place your cutlery in for a few minutes then brush dried on food away. Rinse cutlery of all traces of bleach and soap and dry. DO NOT USE ON SILVER OR BONE CUTLERY. This is for stainless steel only.

Dusting

For small knickknacks: place a pair of old pantyhose over your vacuum hose and go over all of your ornaments, this will remove all dust. This works for finding jewelry, pins, contact lenses etc. as well.

Glass

To clean a glass chandelier: add a couple of drops of dish detergent to warm water and mix. Take a soft clean cloth and dip it into water, and wring well. Gently glide cloth over your fixture or chandelier to remove dust, DO NOT yank as you can damage your chandelier.

For beautiful shine: Add a tsp of ammonia to warm water, dip clean cloth into ammonia mixture, wring well, and go over glass once you have removed all dust.

Laundry

Sorting: Use three separate baskets for whites, lights, and darks. Once you have enough for a full load, do the washing to prevent disarray and keep to keep on top of the wash.

Mattress

When cleaning a mattress, you must first stand it on its side to prevent moisture from penetrating the mattress. Moisten a clean white rag in warm water and rub cloth with toilet soap. Rub stain with white cloth, use a nail brush if necessary. Remove excess moisture by putting a towel over treated area and walking on towel. Warmth will help mattress dry a lot faster.

Microwave

Steam Clean: Fill a small or medium glass bowl half full of hot water, cut one lemon into quarters squeeze then and to water, take one orange cut, squeeze, and add to water. Place bowl in microwave on high for five minutes. The orange cuts through grease, and the lemon kills odors. This will help stuck on food wipe off a lot easier.

Shower

Shower door: take a clean white cloth and saturate with lemon juice, and then rub the glass door as well as the metal plate.

Sink

Sluggish sink: pour 2 ounces of salt, 2 ounces of borax, and 2-6 ounces of vinegar down the drain. Allow a couple of minutes of magic and pour 4-8 cups of boiling water down the drain, this will clean your drain and kill funky odors.

Windows

Add a couple of drops of dish detergent to warm water, take a chamois cloth and saturate in warm water, wring cloth well. Wipe glass inside and out in different directions i.e. side side, up and down, so you can see anything you might have missed.
